Maxicakes was incorporated in 1991 by Sheri Goldstein, Culinary Institute of America graduate and her husband Bart, Rochester Institute of Technology graduate. Sheri started her pastry career at India Jose in Santa Cruz, California. When she returned to New York she was employed by a wholesale bakery in Manhattan. Meanwhile Bart worked his way up to vice president of a large display manufacturing company. 

 

Originally, Maxicakes was started in their home kitchen in Bayside with just a few products in their line. The business quickly flourished and they moved into a storefront a short time later, where they developed a full line of cakes, pies, and individual desserts. They have always served prestigious hotels, restaurants, caterers and clubs in the New York City and Long Island area. They use only the finest, freshest ingredients and make everything on premises. They are truly one of the few scratch bakeries on Long Island. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Torte, their signature dessert, has won many awards.
